Inclusivity Statement

Sphere Optometry welcomes you as you are and our desire is that you feel safe, welcomed and seen. We believe there is beauty in diversity and strength in differences, and that each of us adds something special to the fabric of our community. At Sphere, our goal is to create a safe space for everyone, a place where we can all feel connected and valued on our wellness journeys, and where we can help our patients to live fully and joyfully.

Here at Sphere, we understand the importance of representation and we honour that it takes courage to show up as our authentic selves. Our commitment to diversity is reflected in our values and culture, and as a result, our team (along with our patient community) is comprised of individuals with unique perspectives and from a variety of backgrounds. We’ve also intentionally organized our collections and space in a non-gendered way, as well as made Sphere as wheelchair accessible as possible.

As we endeavour to support the diverse needs of our community, we are honoured to participate and donate to a number of local projects and organizations that are close to our hearts.

Fit to Read Project: Created by Dr. Danielle, the Fit to Read Project exists to connect books with kids, and to contribute to creating a community of joyful readers and learners. New or gently used books can be donated to us at Sphere all year, and these are subsequently distributed to Calgary Reads. Additionally, a portion of the proceeds from every eyewear sale goes to Calgary Reads via the Fit to Read Project.

Be Local: Be Local is a network of locally-owned community-focused businesses that are considerate of social and environmental impact, and who prioritize relationships with their community and other Calgary businesses. We believe that community is built at the ground level, and our values and vision are in harmony with Be Local’s goal to create a strong, sustainable, and inclusive local economy.

Calgary Pride: Calgary Pride is a not-for-profit organization that exists to promote equality and celebrate Calgary’s diversity. During Pride Week (August 27-September 6) Sphere is donating 10% of our sales to Calgary Pride in support of our LGBTQ+ community. We are so grateful and inspired by the work Calgary Pride does for our community.

Thank you for being a part of the Sphere Family and for growing alongside us as we work to cultivate a healthy, beautiful, more inclusive community.

***If you are ever in our space and don’t feel supported, we would love to hear from you. As we work towards becoming a better space for everyone, we value your feedback and perspectives.

Fit To Read Project

The Fit To Read Project was created to connect books with kids and spread the love of reading in our community.
