What Is Myopia Control?
Myopia occurs when the eye grows too long, causing blurry vision.
Myopia can worsen over time as the eye continues to grow. The lengthening of the eye increases the risk of eye complications like retinal detachment and myopic macular degeneration.
Myopia control actively targets the underlying factors that cause myopia to worsen rather than simply correcting vision with glasses or contact lenses.
Why Is Myopia Control Important?
Myopia control is more than just improving vision—it’s an investment in your child’s long-term eye health. Our optometrists proactively track our young patients to assess when myopia control interventions are appropriate and necessary.
In the short term, myopia control provides clearer vision and reduces the number of prescription changes.
In the long term, myopia control protects you child’s eyes from serious vision complications.
The earlier you start myopia control, the better. Children aged 6–10 experience the most rapid worsening of myopia, making early intervention essential.
Book your child’s comprehensive eye exam for a full assessment of their vision, ocular health, and risk of developing myopia.
